Probability of rain and scattered storms in the Yucatan Peninsula

This Wednesday, cloudy skies are expected for most of the day in the Yucatan Peninsula, with rain showers in Campeche, Yucatan, and Quintana Roo. These rains could cause flooding. All rain showers will be accompanied by thunderstorms. The temperature will be mild to warm in the morning and hot in the afternoon. East winds of 10 to 25 km/h with gusts of 40 to 60 km/h are expected in Yucatan and Campeche, according to the report from the National Meteorological Service (SMN).

More stable weather is expected to dominate the region as the large area of instability moves away and Saharan dust arrives, although in relatively low concentrations. Therefore, we will have partly cloudy to mostly clear skies, and some isolated rain showers will form in the afternoon.

Temperatures will rise compared to previous days, with maximum temperatures ranging from 36 to 39°C, while minimum temperatures in the early morning on Thursday will be between 21 and 24°C. The wind will blow from the east-southeast to the east-northeast, with gusts between 30 and 40 km/h.

Meteorologist Juan Antonio Palma from Meteored indicates that today, maximum temperatures above 36°C are expected. There is a probability of scattered rain showers and storms in the Yucatan Peninsula and Tabasco due to the formation of the “Mayan trough” and the influence of a tropical wave.
