Xóchitl Gálvez accused President López Obrador and the federal government of “minimizing” her career and referring to her as an “object manipulated by the patriarchy.”
Senator Xóchitl Gálvez Ruiz filed a formal complaint on Tuesday, July 11th, against President Andrés Manuel López Obrador before the National Electoral Institute (INE) for the crime of gender political violence.
The complaint claims that the mentions of the president in his morning conferences “reproduce historical patterns and standards that have always placed women below the interests and strategies of men.”
The lawsuit also mentions the official networks of the federal government, in which Gálvez Ruiz is identified as a “representative of the oligarchy,” and members of the Presidency communication team, including spokesman Jesús Ramírez, are identified as responsible.
Xóchitl Gálvez accuses in her complaint that in the “Mañaneras” and in messages on social networks, the President has declared that her path “is decided by various men, that any aspirations she may have depends on what a group of men says, and that she is “inflating” that group of men.” (SIC)
The senator accused the statements of the president and the federal government of “minimizing” her career in politics and placing her as an “object manipulated by a patriarchy.”
Due to the above, Gálvez Ruiz asked the INE to order President López Obrador and his team not to issue or reproduce messages that may contain gender political violence and to eliminate the statements they have released in recent days.
