The efforts and international promotion of Yucatán carried out by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal are being realized through a business mission to China. During this mission, he signed a letter of intent with Holley Global, an Asian company, to establish a 1,000-hectare industrial park in the municipality of Umán, which is expected to attract other companies in various industries to invest in the region. This, in turn, will lead to the generation of a significant number of well-paying jobs for Yucatecan families.

Holley Global is a manufacturing company that provides thousands of jobs worldwide. It started 40 years ago manufacturing electric energy meters and has since diversified into various industries such as Industry 4.0, pharmaceuticals, automotive, aeronautics, among others. The company currently has a presence in Asia with over 200 enterprises creating 40,000 jobs and has a workforce of 40,000 in Thailand.

As part of his work tour in the Asian giant, Governor Vila Dosal had a meeting with the president of Holley Global, Licheng Wang, as well as the CEO, Bill Ao, and the vice president of Hofusan, Guangyun Wu. During this meeting, they signed the aforementioned document, allowing the Chinese corporation, based in Zhejiang province, to develop the mentioned project. The goal is to encourage other companies from China to look towards Yucatán for business opportunities, leading to further economic growth and creating more opportunities for the people of Yucatán.

During his activities on this day, the Governor also held a working meeting with the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang province, China, led by its director, Gao Bingxue. They agreed that in the future, a delegation of businessmen from Zhejiang province will visit Yucatán to explore its competitive advantages, further extending commercial ties. It’s worth noting that this province alone exports $6.8 billion worth of goods to Mexico annually, while Mexico exports $800 million, highlighting the potential for significant opportunities in bilateral trade.

Additionally, the possibility of organizing a commercial and cultural fair that brings together Chinese companies was proposed for the first quarter of 2024. The Governor was invited to attend the second Global Digital Trade Exhibition, which will feature companies such as Alibaba, Amazon, Deloitte, eBay, Tesla, Astrazeneca, PwC, Huawei, among others. These efforts are part of the ongoing collaboration between Yucatán and Zhejiang province in China.

Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal continues to promote the competitive advantages of the region and actively seeks opportunities for more foreign direct investment projects. The aim is to enable Yucatecans to benefit from nearshoring and the creation of high-quality job opportunities that come with it.
