Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal’s support continues to reach every corner of Yucatán, and this time it reached the residents of the eastern part of the state who will now have access to better healthcare services and more dignified housing, as well as support to improve their quality of life and nutrition.

During a work tour in Ticimul, a community in Chankom, the Governor inaugurated the local Health Center and distributed housing certificates and support from the Food Security, Banana Plantations, and 2023 Housing Certificate programs. These initiatives aim to continue transforming Yucatán and contribute to improving the living conditions of Yucatecan families.

Accompanied by the Mayor of Chankom, Concepción Tamay Noh, and the Secretary of Health (SSY), Mauricio Sauri Vivas, Vila Dosal reiterated to everyone present that his administration is committed to improving all Health Centers in the state. This effort is complemented by the construction of the new General Hospital “Dr. Agustín O´Horán,” the Ticul Hospital that was rescued after years of being unfinished, and the Naval Hospital in Progreso, which will not only serve sailors but also civilians in this community and the surrounding areas, marking the first time in Yucatán’s history.

“Our commitment is not only to improve the facilities but also to improve the quality of care. Therefore, I have instructed to eliminate the use of tokens for receiving consultations. All healthcare personnel have the obligation to attend to everyone who arrives, without the need for any tokens,” he asserted.

In the case of this community, the remodeling of the Health Center included interventions in the waiting area, consultation room, Preventive Medicine, public restrooms, medical staff room, wound care, kitchen, and storage, with an investment of nearly 2 million pesos, benefiting 1,474 residents.

Afterward, Vila Dosal moved to the municipal offices of the same locality to deliver certificates for Social Housing Actions, sacks of corn for human consumption as part of the Food Security program, and improved banana plant seedlings.

Through one of the main programs of the current administration, explained Roger Torres Peniche, the Secretary of Social Development (Sedesol), this year 45 projects are being implemented in Chankom homes, including bedroom extensions, sanitary facilities, and ecological kitchens, with an investment of approximately 4.5 million pesos.

Furthermore, around 20,000 genetically improved banana plants, produced at the Scientific Research Center (CICY), are being distributed throughout the territory. For Chankom, 500 specimens are being provided, with 2 plants per family, so they can enjoy the fruits in 6 months.

Among the beneficiaries of these actions was Reina Uicab Cen, a resident of Ticimul, who expressed gratitude to the State Government and Vila Dosal for the free distribution of these plants.
