In an effort to guarantee the development of quality urban services for the residents of Progreso, Mayor Julián Zacarías personally led the supervision of the cleaning and desilting operation of stormwater wells initiated by the Municipality in different areas of the city and its communities.
Accompanied by municipal officials and a team from the Department of Public Works and Urban Development, Julián Zacarías emphasized the importance of carrying out these works and the significant role played by the citizens in maintaining them in good condition. “We will be working intensively during July and August in the creation and cleaning of wells to be well-prepared during the rainy season. In order for these wells to function properly, I invite the residents of the port to not litter the streets. They should put their garbage in bags at the front of their houses, and the routes of Prolimpia will take care of collecting it. By working in a coordinated manner between authorities and citizens, we will achieve better results,” he stated.
As part of these actions, 17 wells will be constructed with a depth of 12 meters, each equipped with an Irving-type collector grate. The new wells will be distributed as follows: 4 in the Nueva Yucalpetén neighborhood, 2 in Vicente Guerrero, 1 in Costa Azul, 1 in Feliciano Canul Reyes, 2 in the city center, 2 in Francisco I Madero, 1 in the Revolución neighborhood, 1 in Ismael García, and 3 in Brisas del Sol. In addition, there will be an ongoing program to desilt existing wells, which involves cleaning all the grates, replacing circular well covers, and replacing damaged grates.
