In October, the joint vaccination campaign against influenza and COVID-19 will begin, as announced on Tuesday during the morning briefing by Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez, the Undersecretary of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention.
He stated that based on the recommendation of the World Health Organization (WHO), the COVID-19 vaccine will be administered to adults over 60 years old, individuals with chronic diseases, obesity, diabetes, and pregnant women. However, vaccination for minors is not included.
“Younger age groups, particularly girls, boys, or adolescents, are not recommended to be vaccinated, as it was observed during the pandemic that they are a population segment with very low risk of complications,” he informed.
Therefore, the age group between five and 17 years old will not be included in the vaccination campaign.
