Baseball enthusiasts and the general public will have the opportunity to firsthand experience the benefits and conveniences offered by the modern test unit of Ie-Tram, a 100% electric public transport. The unit is currently on display from this Friday until Sunday, 23rd, at the entrance of Kukulcán Alamo Park in this city, home to the Yucatán Lions baseball team of the Mexican Baseball League (LMB).

Teresita Gamboa Gamboa, who was present at the exhibition, praised the presence of these modern electric vehicles, emphasizing that they will contribute to more efficient and comfortable mobility for public transport users.

“It’s great that we are advancing with this technology, and we hope that people value it and take care of it because, in the end, it will help us move from one place to another, resulting in reduced travel times,” explained the homemaker.

Regarding the transformation of public transportation services promoted by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal, the woman emphasized the importance of changing and renewing the units because, as she stated, the old ones contribute significantly to environmental pollution and some are in terrible condition.

As part of the efforts led by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal to transform public transportation services in the region, the Ie-Tram unit will be showcased at various locations in the capital. The goal is to familiarize the people of Yucatán with the advantages offered by this innovative electric vehicle, which currently operates only in some cities in Europe and the Middle East.

It is important to highlight that the implementation of Ie-Tram will involve comprehensive reinforcement of the road infrastructure, including over 100 kilometers of new lanes and preferential lanes for public transport, as well as electric charging facilities, accessibility in units, routes, and stops, and complementary installations in the city center to connect with existing routes and improve both traffic flow and the appearance of this area.

Similarly, this initiative will enhance mobility in the territory by connecting three regions, more than 137 neighborhoods, 80 existing routes, and 20 tourist spots, while reducing noise pollution and the carbon dioxide absorbed will be equivalent to planting over 170,000 trees over ten years.

The 32 units will cover 100 kilometers on five high-demand routes, connecting the downtown area of Mérida with the Faculty of Engineering at the Autonomous University of Yucatán (UADY), Umán, Kanasín, Poxilá, and Teya.

In this way, the State Government aims to promote a greener entity and continue the transformation of public transportation. This initiative will be the first and only 100% electric route in Latin America, as it will utilize vehicles that currently operate only in some cities in Europe and the Middle East, such as Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
