The latest incident occurred on Sunday night when firefighters and municipal police officers extinguished a fire that affected a house. Inside the site, a dog was found tied up, but the officers managed to save its life.

TIZIMIN, YUCATAN.- Everything indicates that the house was burned due to disputes among the squatters. They were the ones who notified emergency services about the fire in one of the houses located on 91st Street between 44A and 44.

The police were the first to arrive at the scene to put out the fire while waiting for the firefighters.

Shortly after, the firefighters arrived at the site and took care of completely extinguishing the flames. However, the house, constructed with cardboard sheets, suffered material losses as tables, chairs, and even clothing were burned.

It is worth noting that by the time the officers left the scene, no one came forward to claim ownership of the affected house.

Other houses set on fire

Due to the ongoing disputes among the three groups that control the area, three other houses have been burned. It is important to remember that the squatters occupied this area despite the fact that the plots had been assigned to the ejidatarios (communal landowners), and some individuals even sold their plots to third parties.

The squatters have no certainty of remaining in this place, and they mostly build flimsy houses that are easy targets for fire.
