At least 15 restaurants on 47th Street, where part of the Great Tourist-Gastronomic Corridor is being constructed, have been affected during the realization of this project. This has been communicated to the Municipality of Mérida, ensuring that it must be ready by August of this year, stated Claudia González Góngora, head of the National Chamber of the Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac) in Yucatán.

The official indicated that although there is significant progress, there are still many details that hinder the optimal functioning of establishments in that area.

On the other hand, González Góngora expressed optimism regarding the economic impact that the 2023 holiday season will bring, as there has already been an increase of at least 50 percent in sales for gastronomic businesses in just the first few days.

She also mentioned that Yucatán has become a reference in gastronomic tourism, with many visitors, both domestic and international, coming to the state to taste the culinary delights on offer.

Likewise, she noted that the beaches and especially the so-called “Pueblos Mágicos” (Magical Towns) municipalities are expecting good turnout, and she commented that there is an encouraging outlook for the entire region.
