Businesses complain about the construction of the gastronomic corridor on Mérida’s Calle 47

The construction works of the gastronomic corridor have caused inconvenience to hoteliers as several guests have expressed their anger over the noise from the construction.

The construction of the gastronomic corridor has reached Calle 60 and has extended into the Santa Lucía neighborhood, which has caused frustration among visitors to the capital of Yucatán.

According to the complainants, the area is undergoing remodeling, resulting in the destruction of the street and causing disruptions to vehicular traffic.

Certain streets have been closed for brief periods, and large metal plates have been placed to allow vehicle passage, which has angered some visitors.

According to the manager of a hotel, the accumulated noise on Calle 57 with 60 has led guests to request refunds because the loud noise heard at night prevents them from sleeping.

In response to this issue, the complainant contacted the directors of the Hotel Association, and it was agreed to remove the metal plate and establish new schedules to avoid disturbing the visitors with noise.

On the other hand, the manager of another hotel mentioned that their guests have complained about the noise, especially during nighttime hours. They have also expressed discomfort walking on the broken pavement and carrying their luggage.

It should be noted that another difficulty faced by tourists is navigating through the broken streets during the rainy season, as the debris becomes slippery and poses a risk to visitors.

Regarding the working hours, during a meeting with members of the Canirac, it was indicated that construction activities would take place from midnight until 6:00 AM. However, the construction works of the gastronomic corridor begin at 7:00 AM.
