Yesterday morning, the festival known as Valladolid World Capital of Honey kicked off, an event that, as explained, seeks to transform this Magical Town into a showcase to attract a larger number of visitors.
The long-awaited inauguration of the Valladolid World Capital of Honey Festival, in its second edition, took place at the Main Park Francisco Cantón Rosado.
According to the provided information, the exhibitions and scheduled activities will take place over two days, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
For this second edition, 35 local beekeepers from this municipal seat and the communities of Yalcobá, Kanxoc, Popolá, Yaxché, San Vicente, and Xocén are participating.
The producers agreed that organizing these types of events is beneficial for their activity, as it provides free spaces to showcase and market their honey and other products made from this sweet nectar, thereby improving their family economy.
During a tour of the different stands, the producers invited everyone to visit the spaces, especially the one where a honey tasting is prepared. Those interested can freely taste nine varieties of honey from different flowerings of this natural sweetener.
At the end of the event, 120 boxes for melipona bees were distributed to 15 groups in Valladolid and the communities of Yalcobá and Santa Eleuteria.
Additionally, 150 meliferous trees from the region were given free of charge to local producers, with the aim of encouraging them to continue with this important activity and to further promote the agricultural sector in Valladolid.
