Moments of tension were experienced in Mérida when a two-month-old baby was left locked up inside a vehicle.

The incident took place at García Ginerés neighborhood when a woman exited her car for a period of 10 minutes to enter a clinic.

Unaware that she had left the keys in the ignition, the woman took longer than expected, and the car’s automatic locks engaged, trapping her 2-month-old baby who was in a baby seat in the back of the vehicle.

Upon realizing that her child was trapped, the woman quickly called for emergency services. A Road Assistance unit arrived at the scene, and a police officer opened the vehicle.

Fortunately, the baby was unharmed and was peacefully sleeping in the car seat.

After the vehicle was opened, the woman expressed her gratitude to the police officers.

It is worth mentioning that this is the second incident of this kind in less than a month. Just a few days ago, the assistance of firefighters and SSP personnel was required to rescue another child trapped in a car.

In a similar incident, a baby was trapped inside a car for approximately an hour after the father left him there to go buy water at a store.

Due to the father’s delay, the car’s locks engaged, and it was necessary for firefighters to intervene in order to rescue the child.
