The street vendor Santiago G. accuses agents of the Municipal Police of Valladolid of having confiscated the merchandise he was selling in the Historic Center.
The complainant mentioned that, since he has a motor disability, his only livelihood is to sell natural products, since he cannot engage in other activities for physical reasons.
He accused the agents of the Coordinated Municipal Police of stealing the articles he was selling.
The man stated that he was in the Historic Center of Valladolid offering his products to citizens and tourists when suddenly he was approached by the municipal police officers: “They arrested me and told me that I could not sell in the public streets without a permit and much less in the main square”.
The man assured that the sale of his products helps him to pay for his daily expenses since he has no other source of income and no friends or family in Valladolid since he comes from another state.
“The policemen did not want to listen to me and told me that they would not take me into custody if I gave them my backpack, with all my products, that is a vile robbery. I told them that it was not fair, since I had my articles in it, which are equivalent to almost 1,500 pesos, but at the end of the day they got away with it, so I am publicly denouncing this terrible incident,” said the alleged victim.
He also requested the intervention of Mayor Alfredo Fernandez Arceo to take action in the matter and if possible to return his products, because he was not stealing, but he was earning an honest living, although he recognizes that he was in the center of the city, but he did not know the city’s regulations.
