SSP police officers prepared and ready to “protect and serve” during the Summer vacation period

Agents of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) reported ready with their respective units and equipment to provide timely and effective assistance to all residents and visitors of Yucatán.

According to a statement, there will be over four thousand operational personnel who, during these vacations, reaffirm their commitment to serve and protect the families of Yucatán, Mexico, as well as visitors that are planning to enjoy the attractions and tourist services of our region, such as beaches, nature, archaeological sites, colonial cities, and more.

In this regard, the head of the SSP, General Commissioner Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda, pointed out that, following the instructions of Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal, routine operations are being maintained to monitor and address security and emergency services in the neighborhoods and communities of Mérida, streets and avenues, shopping centers, as well as roads and locations within the state, in coordination with their respective municipalities.

Surveillance will also be reinforced with checkpoints at access points to roads and highways in the state, as well as on the coasts and communication routes, in order to provide security and support to drivers and vehicle occupants.

This security includes sobriety checkpoints to prevent the transit of individuals driving under the influence of alcohol or other toxic substances, and consequently, to prevent accidents.

Bell 407 and 429 helicopters will participate in the operation with aerial surveillance both in the city and in ports and highways, in coordination with the Control, Command, Communications, Computing, Coordination, and Intelligence Center (C5i), as well as with land and maritime units.

In addition to their police functions, both aircraft are used for the transportation of individuals in critical condition due to accidents or medical conditions, for which they are equipped as air ambulances with specialized personnel and equipment.

The SSP’s ground ambulances, 32 of which were received and put into service during the current administration, are strategically located in bases in Mérida and throughout the state, as are the fire units, including the five tanker trucks also acquired during this period.

The Secretariat of Public Security calls on citizens to immediately report any situation that may endanger the tranquility and physical integrity of individuals to the emergency number 9-1-1.
