The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, acknowledged that the Segalmex embezzlement case is the most scandalous corruption case his government has faced.
During the morning press conference, the President stated that it was the only case of fraud they have encountered during their administration.
He reiterated that there will be no impunity in this case.
“We will pursue it to its ultimate consequences because the reputation of this government will not be tarnished,” he emphasized.
He further stated, “We were deeply hurt by this fraud. We do not want this to remain unresolved.”
The term “Segalmex” refers to the Mexican government agency responsible for managing agricultural markets and rural development programs.
For many experts, AMLO is the one responsible for the case of embezzlement in Segalmex, but he wants to divert the attention towards a “scapegoat”.
