Mother from Kanasín pays tribute to her deceased transgender daughter in Yucatán

Leticia Dzul, the mother of Jonathan Chi Dzul, better known as Catalina de Córdoba Fonseca, who was an activist for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community and was crowned Queen of Sexual Diversity in 2019, has paid tribute to her daughter with a photo shoot showcasing the LGBT+ pride flag.

In addition, Leticia Dzul, as a mother and head of the family, will be crowned as the Queen of Diversity in Kanasín, becoming the first family head to represent this community on June 16.

Catalina de Córdoba Fonseca passed away during the early hours of Friday, January 7, 2022, and was recognized as an activist for the LGBTQ+ community. She identified as a transgender person within the LGBTQ+ community and will now be honored by her mother in the Capital of Panucho during Pride Month 2023.

Through a photo shoot taken at the entrance of Kanasín, the Municipal Palace, and the main park gazebo, Leticia Dzul wore dresses adorned with the gay pride flag to remember her deceased daughter.

The photographs were taken by Israel Canul and shared on social media to recognize Leticia Dzul as the first mother to represent the community as the Queen of Diversity 2023.
