Military recognized for their fight against drug trafficking in Merida

For their outstanding work in the fight against drug trafficking, five members of the X Military Region were recognized by Major General DEM, Homero Mendoza Ruiz, by means of a “reveille”.

In the Damián Carmona esplanade of the military command, located in the city of Mérida, the awards were presented to Cavalry Second Lieutenant Daniel Joao H. Luz Hernández, from the 7th Motorized Cavalry Regiment, based in the city of Chetumal, Quintana Roo.

In addition, honorable mentions were given to César Alfonso Becilla, commander of the 10th Infantry Battalion, based in Campeche; Miguel Santiago Juárez, second in command of the 11th Infantry Battalion, based in Mérida.

And the commanders of the 64th Infantry Battalion based in Isla Mujeres, and the commander of the 7th Motorized Cavalry Regiment, based in Chetumal, in Quintana Roo, who were represented by two soldiers because they were on a mission.

“(…) which were awarded by the General, Secretary of National Defense for their professionalism, zeal, dedication and devotion in the fulfillment of their duty”, explained the X Military Region.
It was detailed that the Army elements were recognized due to their participation in the destruction of marijuana and poppy plantations, drug laboratories, seizures of different types of drugs, on highways, warehouses, vehicle inspections, checkpoints, mainly in the country; they were sent to other states in the center and north of the country on different missions.
