Mauricio Vila leads the Navy Day ceremony in Yucatan

Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal and the commander of the XIII Naval Zone, Vice Admiral Gabriel Alberto Báez López, led the commemoration for Navy Day, in which they recognized the valuable work carried out by the men and women who safeguard the seas and national coasts.

Progreso, Yucatán.- In the port of Yucalpetén, Vila Dosal and Báez López placed a wreath in honor of the sailors who died in the line of duty and endorsed the commitment to continue working as a team, to continue laying the foundations for a prosperous future for the families of the state and promote local development from the coast.

Likewise, the Governor and the Commander of the XIII Naval Zone presented recognition to Ana María Frías Salazar, for her executive career in this institution, her recognized leadership in the sustainable management of fisheries in Mexico, and honoring the name of the Navy.

With the presence of the mayor of Progreso, Julián Zacarías Curi, the Regional Captain of the Port of Progreso, Miguel Ángel Martínez Hernández and the director of the Administration of the National Port System (Asipona) of Progreso, retired admiral Jorge Carlos Tobilla Rodríguez, stood out the work of Tomás Daniel Uicab Chalé, for his 60 years of service.

After thanking Vila Dosal for his presence, Báez López read the official message from the Secretary of the Navy, Admiral José Rafael Ojeda Durán, in which he highlighted the work of merchant seafarers, tourist shipping companies, industry workers, businessmen, fishermen, environmentalists, oil workers, and naval officials, who defend the value of the seas and how much they represent for the nation.
