Margot Robbie explains how the iconic scene of the heels was filmed in the Barbie movie

Margot Robbie details the filming of the Barbie scene where she takes off her shoes and her feet maintain the shape of the heels, as if she were a real Mattel doll.

The Barbie trailer is filled with iconic moments, but surely one of the scenes that caught the most attention from the early images of Greta Gerwig’s new film was the one in which Margot Robbie takes off her shoes, revealing perfect Barbie-like feet.

The Mattel doll is characterized by not having flat feet; instead, they are designed with an arch so that she always has to wear high-heeled shoes. In Greta Gerwig’s adaptation, Margot Robbie’s character evolves and no longer embodies the traditional Barbie.

However, at the beginning of the movie, Margot Robbie’s Barbie will be like all the other Mattel Barbies. In a recent interview with Fandango, the actress revealed that they only needed to repeat the shot about eight times for the heels scene. “It wasn’t that many.”

How was the Barbie heels scene filmed?

To film that scene, they used adhesive placed on the soles of the heels, ensuring that the shoes stayed in place when Margot Robbie took them off.

Additionally, the actress had the additional assistance of bars on the sides to support her steps, allowing her to lean her body weight on them and perfectly maintain tiptoe posture without the need for harnesses or anything too cumbersome.
