Leones de Yucatan sweep series against Campeche

MÉRIDA, Yucatán, June 9, 2023.- The Selváticos began their attack in the first inning with a single by Yadir Drake, where Fabricio Macías scored the go-ahead run.

In the third inning, the Leones produced a juicy three-run rally, first with a hit by Marco Jaime, scoring Macías and Sebastián Valle, and another one came again with a single by Yadir Drake, who sent home Jaime.

The first two runs for the Campeche team came in the fifth inning, one with a double play ground ball by Diego Madero and the other with an RBI by Sebastián Díaz; that same inning in the bottom of the fifth, José “Cafecito” Martínez hit a single that brought Marco Jaime to the plate to make it 5-2.

In the sixth inning, the champions scored two more runs, with Yadir Drake’s bases loaded base hit and another single by “Volador” Fabricio Macias; the offensive party did not end there, because in the seventh inning the Melenudos scored two more runs with singles by Marco Jaime and Fabricio Macias.

The Pirates tried to do some damage in the eighth, and with a triple by Italo Motta, Abraham López and Yuniesky Larduet scored; in the bottom of the ninth, Carlos Tocci hit a solo home run to make the score 9-5.

Asere” Yoanner Negrín was inspired on the mound, and during five complete innings, he gave up three hits, allowed four singles and two runs. Also performing well on the mound was the honoree Oliver Perez, who retired with chocolate, followed by Miguel Aguilar, Dalton Rodriguez, Enrique Burgos and Fernando Rodney.
