With the purpose of introducing a new quality product to small producers, traders, entrepreneurs, and restaurant owners, Mayor Julián Zacarías Curi presented the Mangrove Honey made in Progreso, an exceptional showcase of the natural wealth and biodiversity found in the coastal region of this municipality.

In this context, the mayor toured the municipal apiary where he stated, “It is an honor and a pleasure for us to tell you that today we are presenting a top-quality product, 100% natural, made in our city and with the brand of our port, which will continue to position us in the eyes of the world.”

The municipal apiary was created 13 months ago. It has 10 beehives that are monitored every two days and produces two types of honey: the first is the mangrove honey, which is derived from the flora that exists in the mangroves, it has a light color and a sweet and sour taste. The second is the multifloral honey, which is a result of the diversity of flora, it has a dark color and a sweet taste. It is worth noting that this is the first production of mangrove honey from the apiary, totaling 125 kilograms.

This product is a delight that will captivate with its unique flavor and its healthy properties. Those interested in trying it can find it available at the Department of Agricultural Development, located in the same place where the Department of Ecology currently operates, as well as at the Jurassic Trail Park.

The Mangrove Honey made in Progreso is another example of the commitment that the Progreso City Council has to preserve and promote the culture and nature of Yucatán. This initiative supports the sustainability of the mangroves, a vital ecosystem for local biodiversity and the ecological balance of our region. Likewise, it will also contribute to the local economy and the well-being of beekeeping families in Progreso.
