Due to the high temperatures that have been occurring in the state in recent weeks, there has been an increased demand for establishments offering pool baths in Mérida.

These places have seen a surge in attendance of at least 100 percent. In fact, some individuals have even rented out their own pools to take advantage of Yucatan’s intense heat. However, hematologist Mariana Avilés Vale commented that people are at risk of contracting infections when bathing in these places.

The owners and managers of water parks and event venues in various parts of the city have stated that the extreme heat season has been beneficial for them. They have profited from it, as people are looking for places to cool off. Prices for their services have even increased, and people have taken it well.

Avilés Vale mentioned that in these public places, water can become a conduit for the transmission of many infections that can affect various parts of the body. Maintenance and continuous cleaning are crucial for preventing these health problems, but they are not an absolute guarantee.
