“For Progreso, the best is yet to come,” affirms Zacarías

Today, Mayor Julián Zacarías announced the start of construction of the Progreso Arena, a facility that houses a basketball court and is now launching a top-level project that will be a source of pride for the municipality’s residents and a significant milestone in the development of sports in the region.

During the presentation event, the mayor recalled that “at the beginning of this process, we took a tour with a group of sports friends to better understand their needs and, in this way, arrive at a final product that is suitable for what the Progreso athletes need today, specifically basketball players. On that occasion, I told them that Progreso deserves more, and today, with the start of this project, I can confirm that the best is yet to come for Progreso because we will continue working with a great organization to provide first-class spaces for athletes.”

This project will be a benchmark in terms of sports infrastructure at the state level. It will be carried out with an investment of 15.5 million pesos and will have facilities designed to provide comfort and safety for both athletes and attendees. The works include an extension of 335.84 m2 to build 4 commercial premises, representing a 34% increase in the construction area. Additionally, new boxes and grandstands will be built to increase the current seating capacity by up to 50%, along with a new cafeteria, ticket booths, and new restrooms for men and women, including inclusive models for people with disabilities.

Furthermore, the roof will be rehabilitated with a new 1,287.56 m2 intro sheet cover, providing maintenance to the metal structure and renewing the rainwater downspouts. The hardwood floor, backboards, and screen will be replaced, and a four-sided scoreboard will be installed. The electrical installations will be updated, including a new substation, and the hydraulic and sanitation systems will have new bathroom fixtures in the changing rooms. Additionally, the project includes the construction of metal structure facades and the renewal of the exterior public lighting.

The work to be carried out at Progreso Arena is a clear reflection of the commitment of the Municipal Government to strengthen sports practice and promote the creation of spaces for family gatherings. It will undoubtedly be a symbol of pride and a legacy for future generations, who will be able to enjoy a wide variety of sports and cultural events in a modern and functional environment.

It is worth noting that this project adds to other ongoing constructions by the administration of Julián Zacarías, such as the Progreso Sports Unit, the 20 de Noviembre Stadium, and the Baltazar Yama field in Chuburná. This constitutes an unprecedented achievement in the history of the municipality.
