Families search for migrant relatives who are victims of a shipwreck

More than 280 Pakistani families are desperately searching for their relatives who may have been involved in the shipwreck that occurred on June 13th off the Peloponnese peninsula, reported Rana Sanaullah, the Interior Minister of Pakistan.

“So far, 281 Pakistani families have contacted us to inform us that a family member may have been a victim of this accident,” he stated.

The tragedy occurred when an old and overcrowded fishing boat carrying hundreds of people departed from Libya, only to sink, resulting in 82 fatalities and 104 survivors.

Among the individuals who managed to escape safely, there are 12 Pakistanis, but Sanaullah estimates that there were approximately 350 people on board the vessel.
