The Flamboyanes police station continues to accumulate misfortunes, as the residents of the invasion zone were surprised by a fire on Friday morning that left the tenants of a cardboard house with a total loss.
It was in the depths of this area, right at the end of the middle stretch when around 12 noon, families saw smoke coming out of one of the houses made of cardboard and sheet metal. They repeatedly knocked on the door as nobody seemed to come out.
The fear intensified when constant barking was heard from a dog inside, which turned out to be tied up and defenseless. Despite attempts to rescue it, the fire became uncontrollable, and authorities were notified due to the lack of water in this extremely impoverished residential area.
When the fire became uncontrollable, the residents moved away. However, with part of the roof collapsing and the risk of getting burned, a couple of neighboring neighbors rescued the dog, who ended up with minor burns that did not endanger its life.
It is reported that the owner of the house is Antonio “N,” a male approximately 30 years old, who lives with a young man and a young woman under the age of 25. The three of them were not in the house at the time and were contacted by other neighbors.
Meanwhile, firefighters from the rescue and assistance unit of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) worked to extinguish the fire, which completely consumed the vulnerable material walls and roof. A mattress and various personal belongings of the residents were also burned.
With some fear, several witnesses affirmed that the culprit was a young boy of only 16 years old, who turned out to be the nephew of the owner of the invaded property. Just the day before, on Thursday afternoon, they had a heated argument that escalated to physical violence.
It has also been revealed that this is not the first time the minor has gotten into trouble, as he has had conflicts since arriving in this populated area after being in a rehabilitation center due to drug addiction.
Subsequently, acquaintances of the young boy took him to the offices where Commissioner Carlos Noyola Sosa’s staff works. The issue is being followed up with authorities such as the State Attorney General’s Office based in the port, where it was confirmed that there would be legal action against the teenager for what happened.
Due to the fact that the minor will remain free, neighbors wasted no time expressing their concerns through social media, urging the authorities to take action. They fear that a similar incident may occur with another family, and there won’t be timely intervention to save the lives of those involved.
