Formal employment in the southeastern region of Mexico showed an increase above the national average during the month of April, with a significantly higher variation in the states of Quintana Roo and Campeche, leaving Yucatan in last place among the three entities on the peninsula.
According to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), as of April 30, 2023, 21,820,291 jobs have been registered throughout Mexico, of which 86.1 percent are permanent and 13.9 percent are temporary.
The monthly growth compared to last year has been 24,011 jobs, equivalent to a rate of 0.1%.
At the peninsular level, for the end of the previous month, Quintana Roo reported a percentage growth of 8.4 percent, with a total of 491,986 jobs, placing the Mexican Caribbean state in third place nationally in terms of the highest growth.
Campeche follows, ranking ninth nationally, with a 5.2 percent growth compared to April 2022, encompassing a total of 140,182 formal jobs.
Yucatan is in last place on the peninsula, having grown only 5.1 percent in terms of new job creation compared to April of the previous year, reaching a total of 421,816 registered jobs with the IMSS.
