The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) announced an increase in electricity rates, as well as discounts that will benefit 20 states in Mexico, including Yucatan.

Just in what has transpired in the year, an increase in the rates for the month of May was announced, as users will pay 0.969 pesos per 75 kilowatt-hour, compared to the 0.902 pesos paid in May 2022. It was also reported that for the month of December, users will pay 1.011 pesos per 75 kilowatt-hour.

This increase in electricity service rates will only apply to household and intermediate use, where for every 65 kilowatts used, users will pay 1.181 pesos, while excess consumption will be charged at 3.452 pesos.

Although there is a reported increase in electricity rates, the state-owned company announced that due to the upcoming warm waves that will hit the country, discounts will be applied in at least 20 states in the country, in which temperatures exceed 30 degrees Celsius.

It should be noted that these discounts applied by CFE represent a benefit for families and for the prevention of diseases, since the main recommendations from authorities such as Civil Protection, given the intense heat that is hitting Yucatan, is for people to stay in cool places and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during the hours between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm.
