CANCUN, QRoo, April 30, 2023.- Up to 40 complaints a day received by the Directorate of Animal Protection and Welfare in Cancun for mistreatment of pets.

This was announced by the spokesman of the agency, Emiliano Sanchez, who said that most are from neighbors who hear or witness the mistreatment of their pets by their owners, mostly dogs, although to a lesser extent they also receive reports of mistreatment of cats.

The procedure to follow is to make a visit to the home where the abuse is reported; if the aggression is corroborated, the animal is kept by the Dirección de Protección Animal until the pet is examined to rule out physical damage.
