Promoting the education of children and young people is a top priority for Mayor Julian Zacarias Curi. For this reason, the Municipality of Progreso, through the Education Department, provides continuous support to students, teachers, and parents throughout the municipality.

With this purpose in mind, various actions are carried out aimed at reducing educational lag, promoting reading, and fostering values that contribute to healthy coexistence through intense work carried out in all the districts of Progreso.

In this way, during the past month of April, tutorials were offered to primary school children in the subjects of Spanish and mathematics, as well as sessions on reading and writing, attending approximately 50 students per week, as reported by the municipal Education Director, Dianela del Carmen Nuñez Castro. In addition, a reading workshop was held on the handling and care of books for primary school students to promote reading with the theme of the seasons of the year and the arrival of spring, complemented by paper crafting activities related to spring.

Likewise, the municipal library provides support services to primary and secondary school students to reduce educational lag, who have the guidance and advice of the librarian for the elaboration of tasks and projects that they find complicated, and also, they are offered the service of computer and internet lending.

These are just some examples of the activities carried out to support students in Progreso, in addition to the programs that are provided as a result of coordinated work with various agencies such as the Ministry of Education of the State Government (SEGEY) and the Ministry of Culture and Arts.

Thus, the Municipality of Progreso promotes the education and well-being of children and young people so that they have a better future.

For more information on the services offered by the Education Department, please visit their offices located at the former Cendi on 39th Street, number 373-377 in the Feliciano Canul Reyes neighborhood.
