Thousands of travelers will have the opportunity to be part of the upcoming celebration in the municipality of Valladolid, as the City Council is preparing a grand event to commemorate its 480th anniversary with craft beer.
Upon the announcement of the festivities, which will include music, exhibitions, folklore, and cultural events, Mayor Alfredo Fernández revealed that from May 26th to 28th, Valladolid’s restaurants will sell a specially crafted artisanal beer for the occasion.
Authorities explained that this unique brew, created by the Yucatecan brewery Esmeralda Brewing, will be available to the public for a limited time. They invite Valladolid residents and visitors to enjoy the scheduled activities and then visit the restaurants to taste this special product.
While the mayor did not specify whether the festivities will bring any economic benefits to the City Council, he emphasized that they hope many tourists will visit during the mentioned dates, stating that “not every day marks a 480-year milestone.”
Among the other culinary delights of Valladolid that will be served, attendees can enjoy delicious lomitos (pork loin sandwiches), refreshing lime soup, Valladolid-style longaniza (sausage), and the iconic cochinita pibil (slow-roasted pork).
The activities will commence on Friday, May 26th, with oil and photography exhibitions titled “Colors of Valladolid.” Additionally, there will be a poetry reading dedicated to Valladolid and a performance by the Military Region X Band.
On Saturday, May 27th, the State Government of Yucatan’s Music Band will perform in Candelaria Park at 7 PM, followed by the “Xibalba” Folk Ballet.
The program will conclude on Sunday, May 28th, with a Solemn Council Session held in front of the fountain in Sisal neighborhood’s park, a performance by “Los Tachos” in the main park “Francisco Cantón Rosado,” and a cultural program in the courtyard of the former Sisal convent. The grand finale will feature the Yucalpetén Typical Orchestra, also in the Sisal courtyard.
