Andrés Manuel López Obrador, President of Mexico, stated in his morning press conference on Monday that 10 billion pesos are being invested in the modernization of the country’s customs.

During his tour this weekend of Matamoros, Reynosa, and Nuevo Laredo, he detailed that “15 facilities are being rehabilitated; surveillance equipment (X-ray machines) has been acquired; the national customs office and a barracks are being constructed.”

This is being done “to make the transit along approximately 500 km of the border safer and more efficient.”
