First Ie-Tram will arrive in Yucatán on Saturday, May 27th testing to begin in June

Coming from the port of Veracruz, the first Irizar unit of the Ie-Tram is expected to arrive in Yucatán no later than Saturday. It will be part of the first electric public transportation system in the southeastern region of the country.

In an interview with La Verdad Noticias, Rafael Hernández Kotasek, the head of the Yucatán Institute of Mobility and Urban Territorial Development (IMDUT), stated that this is a pilot project for the electric buses that will provide public transportation services. The bus was shipped from Europe via maritime transport.

He mentioned that upon its arrival, various tests related to routes, itineraries, problematic intersections, and travel times will be conducted during the months of June and July. The purpose is to have a preliminary assessment before the Ie-Tram begins operations, scheduled to start in December of this year.

The official emphasized that this assessment will also ensure that the units brought from Europe are constructed according to the specified dimensions and that there are no issues when they are put into circulation on the exclusive and shared lanes designated for their use.
