More gyms in Merida
The Mérida City Hall currently has two free boxing schools located in the Ciudad Caucel and San José Tecoh sports units, where around 200 people attend.
The training is given by renowned Yucatecan trainers, such as Abraham “Baloo” Falcón, in Caucel, and Susana Salazar Ruíz and Ángela Rendón, in San José Tecoh.
The only two women who exercise the role of trainer in the State are part of those gyms; besides Susana Salazar was a national Olympic medalist in 2010 and in 2019, director of the Mexican Women’s National Team that traveled to Guatemala, made up of champions and runners-up of the Olympic Festival.
They also have professional boxing coaches such as Iván “Sonrics” Ramírez, Jéssica Basulto, Víctor “Vago” Durán, Roque “Tejón” Mex, Alberto “Malachito” Chuc, among others.
Not to mention, the Caucel boxing school has won medals in the State and Regional Phase of the Conade National Games.
