On Saturday, Carlos was officially crowned as the new king of the United Kingdom in Westminster Abbey, a historic event that had not occurred in almost seven decades, since it was the turn of Queen Elizabeth II.
The new monarch was anointed and then handed objects of investiture, such as the royal robe and stole, the sword of offering, the bracelets, the iconic orb and scepter, and the rod.
Finally, Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, placed the Crown of St. Edward on the head of Carlos III, which was broadcast live.
Camila’s coronation ceremony, held afterward, was a bit more discreet, after which the new king and queen headed to Buckingham Palace to greet the crowds that awaited them along with their family.
Among the attendees were William and Kate, the Prince and Princess of Wales, respectively, with their children. Harry attended the event alone and did not appear with the others on the balcony of the Palace.
