Ana Guevara attacks Mexican swimming team

Ana Gabriela Guevara Espinoza is a Mexican former track and field athlete who specialized in the 400 meters and is the 7th fastest female 300-meter runner in the world, running 300 meters in 35.3 seconds on May 3, 2003.

She served as a Mexican Senator for the 2012–2018 term. And from 2018 to 2023 she is the head of the National Sports Commission (Comisión Nacional del Deporte: CONADE).

On Wednesday, May 17th, Ana Guevara, president of Conade, attacked swimmers who denounced a lack of financial support after winning four medals in the swimming World Cup.

The official accused that the Mexican representatives lied and owe 40 million pesos that they have not justified.

“They have resources from Sedena, Semar, CONADE, their statements are malicious and it seems that nothing has been granted to them and they want to get out of a situation that is not,” Guevara said.

She stated that the competitors have coaches and they were supported in everything, for which she criticized their raising their voices before President López Obrador, who allegedly supported them even with the pandemic.

It is no secret that Ana Gabriela Guevara has not been doing a good job as President of CONADE, and there are rumors that involve her in corruption.
