Alert at the Yucalpetén harbor due to catamaran crash in Progreso

Moments of tension and alert were registered at the Yucalpetén harbor when a catamaran crashed into high-voltage cables.

The collision caused a cable to fall into the sea, so the Yucalpetén harbor was quickly closed to navigation in Progreso.

Due to the fear that the water might be electrified, the harbor was closed to navigation, and no vessels were allowed to enter or leave.

Local fishermen alerted the authorities, and the Progreso Municipal Police and personnel from the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) arrived at the scene to ensure that the area remained closed until the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) arrived.

Finally, CFE personnel arrived, and the necessary repairs were carried out.
