A 65-year-old from Peto, Yucatan reunites with her family after 25 years in the United States

After 25 years, Elda Natividad Naal, 65 years old, finally had the chance to reunite with her children and grandchildren who live in the United States. The grandmother mentioned that her heart was filled with joy when she saw her entire family waiting for her with a bouquet of flowers and signs.

Elda Natividad Naal, originally from the municipality of Peto, was a beneficiary of the program promoted by Indemaya called “Cabecitas Blancas” (White Heads).

On May 17th, accompanied by elderly individuals from the municipality of Peto, she left Mérida International Airport to travel to San Francisco, USA, in order to meet her relatives.

In the interview, she shared that the feeling of seeing her children and grandchildren face to face was difficult to put into words, as she felt her heart pumping with joy.

“It had been so many years since I last saw them. They welcomed me with signs containing messages of welcome. The ‘Cabecitas Blancas’ program is a blessing because it allowed me to be reunited with them,” she said.

The objective of this program is to provide assistance and support to individuals over 60 years old through the management and processing of official documents related to immigration matters, enabling them to temporarily reunite with their family members. Document validation is carried out to compile files for visa applications at the United States Consulate in Mérida for parents over 60 years old who are parents of Yucatecan migrants.

Upon her arrival, she met her grandchildren and children whom she had only seen or heard through video calls or phone conversations, and she acknowledged the great work carried out by the people in charge of this program.

The woman arrived in San Francisco, California, on January 17th, and her return is scheduled for June 26th at Mérida City Airport.

Finally, she expressed the immense happiness she feels at having this opportunity to reunite with her family, as she thought she would never see them again.
