The dancer Ana Lorenza Blanco put the name of Yucatán on high after winning the Shelly King Award for Excellence in the Junior category from 12 to 14 years old, granted by the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), one of the most important ballet competitions in the world.

With this achievement, the young Yucatecan became the first Mexican to obtain this recognition, which gives access, through scholarships, to the best schools of this discipline in the world.

That is why she received the scholarship to such an important and prestigious academy in Europe, where she will attend after taking a summer course at the Royal Ballet in England.
Ana competed against 300 dancers who came to the try-outs in Tampa, Florida on April 3 to demonstrate their talent, and the young Yucatecan dancer was able to stand out.

The award for excellence is given to the dancer who demonstrates not only a high level in the entire competition, in both classical and contemporary dance, but also shows a great attitude and excellent performance. For this reason, the jury sees Lorenza Blanco as a great promise in dance.

After receiving the recognition, Ana said she was very excited and commented that she did not expect to be the winner, but affirmed that she put her best effort and dedicated a lot of extra time to her preparation.

Ana has been practicing dance since she was five years old and since she was nine years old she discovered that it was her passion.
