Yucatan’s service sector grows 27% bimonthly (INEGI)

They totaled 533.7 million pesos compared to 420 million pesos in the same period of the previous year.

In the first two months of 2023, income from the supply of private non-financial goods and services in Yucatán totaled 533.7 million pesos, an increase of 27.07 percent over the 420 million pesos of the same period of the previous year, according to Inegi’s Monthly Services Survey (EMS).

Data from the EMS of the National Institute of Geography and Statistics (Inegi) indicate that in the companies of this sector the employed personnel also increased six percent, and the real total remunerations, three percent, with respect to 2022.

At the national level, as of February 2023 and with seasonally adjusted data, the results of the EMS indicate that real total income from the supply of goods and services of non-financial private services rose 1.5 percent; employed personnel decreased 0.1 percent, total expenses remained unchanged and real total remunerations grew 0.5 percent, at a monthly rate.

Meanwhile, with seasonally adjusted figures and at annual rate, the aggregate index of real total income in the country increased 6.2 percent; that of employed personnel decreased 0.7 percent; that of total expenditures rose 8.6 percent and the index of total remunerations increased 2.8 percent.

The non-response rate of the EMS, corresponding to February 2023, registered percentages in accordance with the statistical design of the survey.

Inegi explained that the objective of the survey is to generate statistical information in a timely and permanent manner on the service activities provided by the non-financial private sector and contributes to the decision-making process of the sectors of society.
