The president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) of Yucatán, Raúl Monforte González, revealed that builders in the state will begin to use blocks made from plastic waste for construction.
The businessman pointed out that it was at the 25th edition of Expo Construcción where the first exhibition was held, where Yucatecan builders learned about innovations and new environmentally friendly materials.

At this event, which concluded this weekend, the CMIC of Yucatan reported that two important companies reached agreements to begin the distribution of materials made from plastic waste.
“Trivasa, a company that extracts and produces construction materials, and CRDC Global, a company that creates value through plastic waste, signed an agreement to introduce concrete blocks made from plastic waste to the Mexican market,” he said.
He specified that this involves the manufacture of concrete blocks with plastic waste, such as PET and unicel, as an alternative in construction and advantages in terms of sustainability.
For his part, Hebert Herrera, director of Grupo Trivasa, said that they will soon start distributing these blocks in Yucatán, “where the problem of plastic contamination is growing”.
According to CMIC, Expo Construcción consolidated its position as a regional and national pole of exhibition and business, both in terms of cutting-edge technology and latest-generation heavy equipment, as well as in the presentation of new trends and innovations in products and services.
The Expo brought together a hundred exhibitors from most of Mexico’s states and five countries, which attracted buyers of equipment and products, as well as service contractors from other states.
