Since the beginning of the Holy Week holiday season, the Progreso City Council, led by Mayor Julian Zacarias Curi, has implemented various security and cleaning actions with the purpose of ensuring that residents and visitors to the port can enjoy these days of rest to the fullest.
In this context, the Holy Week 2023 Vacation Operation was launched a few days ago, which involves the participation of various government agencies at the federal, state, and municipal levels. As part of this plan, the presence of the Municipal Police and the Ecological Police stands out, working in coordination with elements from the Public Security Secretariat of Yucatan, the XIII Naval Zone, and the National Guard, who will be jointly patrolling the tourist areas of the port and the surrounding communities to strengthen surveillance and ensure order.
To ensure that this holiday period unfolds peacefully, the municipal police invite citizens to approach them in case of any eventuality and to respect the schedule for consuming alcoholic beverages, which, in the case of the public areas of the boardwalk, concludes at 6:00 pm. Likewise, they emphasize the importance of not driving vehicles or entering the sea after consuming alcoholic beverages.
Additionally, swimmers are urged to consider the recommendations of the lifeguards on the beach, watch over minors at all times to prevent them from getting lost or suffering any mishap, and preserve the local fauna and species.
By following these simple recommendations, everyone can have an enjoyable time in this port, which, in the words of Mayor Zacarias Curi, “is ready and has its doors open to receive vacationers.“
For any report or emergency call, the municipal police provide a direct line at 969 935 0026 and also via WhatsApp at 999 359 0369.
