The AMLO administration eliminated daylight saving time, but automated devices are not aware

A large number of Yucatecans started their activities this Sunday up to 60 minutes early, after an automated time change in digital clocks and cell phones took them by surprise during the early hours of the morning.

Several users on social networks reported to be confused with the real time of this day, because although there is no longer daylight saving time, some electronic devices are configured to advance or set back the clock on their own.

This is how this morning some alarms went off earlier. Confident of their cell phones, people began to do their scheduled work and did not realize that the clock stole an hour of sleep.

“It was chaos, it’s not worth it, totally unfair the slider, until I saw on Google, just because my cousin told me that there is no time change,” wrote Rita Nuñez in a publication where another user asked about the modification in the clock.

However, not all cell phones experienced this modification, as some people said they did not have any problem with their devices.

This happened due to the fact that the next time change was scheduled for the early morning of Sunday, April 2, when cell phones would be set back one hour during the night.

However, after the Senate of the Republic approved in 2022 the modifications to the Time Zone Law in the United Mexican States, it was decided to eliminate these modifications in the clocks from October 30, 2022.

Daylight saving time was no longer implemented, mainly under the argument that turning on the lights one hour in advance or postponing this action during one season of the year, did not generate a positive environmental impact as it was proposed when the clock began to be modified.
