

Cancun, Q.R., March 28th, 2023.- The Benito Juarez City Hall, through the Municipal Secretary of Social and Economic Development, in coordination with the General Directorate of Commerce and Services on Public Roads and the National Chamber of Restaurants and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC) Cancun chapter, will hold the “Taco Day”, in order to promote and disseminate this emblematic dish of Mexican culture for Cancun locals and visitors.
In a press conference held this Tuesday morning, the Municipal Secretary of Social and Economic Development, Paola Elizabeth Moreno Cordova, said that “on behalf of our Municipal President, Ana Patricia Peralta, we will celebrate Taco Day, on March 31st from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, in the esplanade of the Plaza de la Reforma, expecting an influx of 2,500 visitors”.

“All participants will be selling the taco at 5 pesos, which is important for the economy of all our Cancunenses, so they can try the different types of tacos such as pastor or trompo, carnitas and even poc chuc, among others,” added the president of the Canirac chapter Cancun, Julio Villarreal Zapata, noting that in this culinary festival is expected the participation of more than 25 restaurants.
During the activities of “Taco Day” there will also be marimba, Lucha Libre, band and mechanical bull, which will frame the gastronomic and cultural sector in a family atmosphere, in order to generate community among locals and tourists.
Also, it was announced that it is a public invitation for merchants or vendors of tacos de canasta to register until Thursday, March 30 in the agencies involved, and participate in this celebration of traditional tacos.
