Once again a unit of the “Va y Ven” public transportation system was involved in a traffic accident, this time resulting in four people injured after a collision on the Merida ring road.
The events took place this Thursday afternoon when the new bus was traveling with a preference on the inside lane of the aforementioned road, at the height of the Xmatkuil police station on 50th street south.
However, when the bus with economic number 10115 tried to cross, it was hit by a truck used to transport construction material, with license plates YS-3484-D, which was traveling on the outside lane and wanted to enter the city without respecting the stop sign.
The lack of caution caused the material truck to hit the passenger bus on its left side. As a result of the collision, the “Va y Ven” was projected against a tree, which caused damage to the front part of its bodywork, the panoramic window and the bicycle rack.
Injured passengers
Inside the bus, four people suffered considerable injuries and nervous breakdowns which were attended to by paramedics from the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP) of Yucatán, who arrived aboard ambulance Y-02, but none were required to transfer to a hospital.
The units of the “Va y Ven” public transport system, which circulate on the Periferico and Circuito Metropolitano routes have been involved in several traffic accidents since their start-up in December 2021.
Although no serious injuries have been reported in any of the cases, collisions between buses and private vehicles momentarily take the units out of circulation, causing delays and inconvenience to users.
