Mérida, Yucatán.- Pop Up created by Ediciones Marea is presented in Merida, a project that for the first time will have a space in the south of the country.

13/04/2023 | Malena López Muñoz, representative of Casa Escuela, explained that this inauguration was the presentation of the catalog of Ediciones Marea, a Mexican platform that works with renowned national and international artists to create unique pieces.

Marea is seeking to provide novice collectors with more accessible works than usual, with artists who already have a trajectory and are not just starting their career, to avoid risks.

“What Marea offers is a catalog with artists who already have name,” he said.

Currently, Marea’s catalog is made up of 10 artists, but this number is increasing year by year, he said, and there are editions with more or fewer artists.

With the presentation of the catalog, they also opened the sale of these pieces in Yucatan, in southern Mexico, for the first time. Before this, “the Ediciones Marea project had only been presented in the center of the country, in Mexico City and Guadalajara”.

He emphasized that the attraction of this project is that it consists of an accessible proposal for the artists who are present, as they are the ones who even present their work in important museums at an international level representing Mexico.

The price range starts at 17,000 pesos, he estimated, which is affordable considering the level of artists involved in the project; in addition, these works are created exclusively for Marea.

Among the artists that can be found are: Pedro Reyes, Mario García Torres, Pia Camil, Abraham Cruzvillegas, Darío Escobar, Gabriel Rico and SUPERFLEX.

Regarding the site where they are presenting the work, the Casa Escuela, it is worth mentioning that Malena Lopez informed that they are seeking to promote this space for exhibitions of this type, as well as other activities, with the aim of putting the eyes on the State as a space for culture.

The Marea Pop-Up can be visited from April 13 to June 19. To visit the exhibition, she invited visitors to make an appointment in advance from Monday to Thursday or to come Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm directly to the Casa Escuela, located at Calle 65 #530 by 66 in Mérida’s Centro Histórico.
