Dengue fever continues on the rise in Progreso, Yucatán

PROGRESO – Dengue fever continues to rise in the municipality, daily the health sector clinics attend numerous cases, patients are given rapid tests to detect the disease and when they are positive they are sent home and if they are serious they are hospitalized.

Since early morning long lines have formed at the clinic of the Centro de Salud con Servicios Ampliados (CESSA) located in the west of the city, as well as at the Unidad Médica del Seguro Social, 27th Street between 72 and 74, where young people and adults come to consult for symptoms of dengue fever.

According to what we found out, most of the consultations in the health sector clinics and with private doctors are for dengue, some people get severe dengue, hemorrhagic dengue, their platelets are low, so doctors send them to the hospitals because it can be fatal.

There have been cases of people, according to medical reports, who have ended up hospitalized because they did not pay attention to the recommendations of absolute rest and continued with their occupations, and some have even suffered heart attacks because they did not remain at home resting as indicated by the doctors.

Cases of dengue affect minors, youths and adults, and since March there have been reports of an outbreak affecting the inhabitants of the city and the police stations. The Yucatan Ministry of Health is carrying out fumigation efforts to combat the mosquito that transmits the disease.

There are also reports of cases of Covid-19, which occurred after the Holy Week vacation period, as there were no sanitary restrictions and there was a lot of crowding.
