According to Carmen Yadira de los Santos, delegate of the National Institute of Migration (INM) in Yucatan, there is a probability that the 241 foreigners detained in recent weeks in the state have been seeking to reach Cancun, Quintana Roo as the final destination of their journey.

The federal official also pointed out that there is a probability that the State is a new obligatory transit point for migrants and considered that the dynamics of migratory flows are coinciding in the nationality of the people who have been detained, due to the high number of Indian citizens detained in Yucatan.

Regarding the migrants who were arrested weeks ago, he indicated that each one’s migratory situation was analyzed and depending on each case was resolved according to INM’s procedures, in addition to the fact that the foreigners are no longer in Yucatan, and may have returned to the southern border.

He emphasized that Migration has no knowledge if there have been polleros detained, since the institute is only responsible for the migrants, in addition to the fact that the 241 foreigners were provided with health and food rights, thanks to the support of the Mexican Red Cross personnel who collaborated with them during their stay.
