MÉRIDA, Yucatan, March 7, 2023.- Through a press release, the Autonomous University of Yucatan: UADY informed that this March 9 they will celebrate the Day Without Women, to make visible the social, economic, political, and cultural contributions that women make every day.

Given this initiative, UADY urged the university community to respect this movement in favor of women and assured that those who decide to participate in the 9M will not be subject to any academic or labor sanctions.

Meanwhile, they encouraged men to dedicate this day to reflecting and support this initiative to understand the deep symbolism that this national strike entails.

“They reiterated that the absence of university women on March 9 should in no way be taken as a day off, since it is a clear demonstration of the essential role they play in the development of society as a whole, and this is a way of making it even more evident,” they said.

Finally, they assured that UADY assumes a public commitment to eradicate all kinds of violence and behavior that threatens the emotional or physical integrity of those who are part of the university community, so that endorses its duty to the struggle for substantive equality of women.
