Slow reduction of pandemic in Mexico: López-Gatell

During AMLO’s daily morning press conference, on Tuesday, March 14th, Hugo López-Gatell, Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, reported that the reduction of the Covid-19 pandemic has been slowly evolving.

“Since the beginning of the year 2023 and 11 weeks ago we have had a period of reduction in the transmission of the virus, in the most recent five weeks it can be seen that this reduction occurs at a slower speed than it had in the first six weeks of the year And this is mainly at the expense of the center of the country where the megalopolis has this epidemiological behavior, there are six federal entities in this situation, the rest of the entities have a reduction to minimum parameters of the transmission of the virus, ” he explained.

Lopez-Gatell added that hospitalization remains at five percent in general beds and a few percent for people in critical condition, while mortality is on the decline.
