Pope Francis entered the Agostino Gemelli hospital in Rome on Wednesday afternoon due to a respiratory infection, the Vatican press office reported.

He explains that for days “he had been suffering from some respiratory difficulties and this afternoon he went to the A. Gemelli Polyclinic for medical check-ups.

He added that the infection “will require a few days of adequate medical treatment” and excluded that said condition is a contagion of Covid-19.
